Introducing the Proud Administration Team
of Dennis E. Cowan Elementary
Mr. Travis Brunner
I am proud to be the Interim Principal at Dennis E. Cowan Elementary for the 2019-2020 school year. This is my fourteenth year as an educator and my twelfth year in Austin Independent School District, during which I have had the pleasure of being a math teacher, coaching multiple sports, and serving as an assistant principal. I’m excited to continue my passion for ensuring the academic, social, and emotional success of all students and working collaboratively with our students, parents, and staff at Dennis E. Cowan Elementary.
I grew up in Buffalo, NY and am a proud graduate of Penn State University where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education. I also completed my Master of Education in Curriculum and Instructional Leadership at Vanderbilt University and earned my Principal Certification from Stephen F. Austin State University. Becoming an educator has been my goal since high school, when I had the opportunity to intern ten hours a week my senior year at my hometown elementary school with my 5th grade teacher.
Outside of work I enjoy following my sports teams (Penn State, Vanderbilt, Buffalo Bills and Sabres), being active, running and spending time with my four dogs, Kona, Porter, Lilo, and Gusgus.
Ms. Christine Snowden
I am a seasoned educator with experience at the elementary, secondary, and collegiate levels. Much of my classroom experience was spent teaching English and writing, where I devoted many hours helping students master things like "there", "their", and "they're."
Currently, I am a proud assistant principal at Dennis E. Cowan Elementary School and enjoy working with my coyote family daily. Once a coyote, always a coyote.
Prior to becoming an administrator, I was a school counselor and enjoyed working with students and families in this capacity. This experience has given me a unique perspective and has informed my practice as an administrator.
A native Texan, I have a heart the size of my lone star state and look forward to connecting with kids each day. Having taught students of various ages from diverse backgrounds, I firmly believe in the power of building and maintaining relationships. Connection is the gateway that allows students to acquire new learning.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, hunting for vintage finds at estate sales, and I have a deep love for guacamole and salsa.
Ms. Vicki Everett
I am excited to be a part of the Cowan Coyote administration team. I began my career as an educator with Austin Independent School District 18 years ago teaching at Bedichek Middle School. For the last 17 years I taught at Bailey Middle School, and served the campus as their assistant principal for one year. I have taught World Cultures, Texas History, American History, Math, English Language Arts, and Reading. In addition to teaching, I have served as an English Language Arts Department Head and mentor to many teachers. Supporting teachers, students, and families in the multifaceted aspects of education is a deep-rooted passion for me.
I was born in Austin and am a product of AISD. I graduated from St. Edward's University with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Concentration in Management. I attended the University of Texas as a post-bachelor student in order to obtain my teaching certification. I earned my Master of Education in Administration from Concordia University Texas. Being an educator is truly a rewarding second career for me.
In our free time, my husband and I are avid Longhorn fans cheering on their football and baseball teams. Additionally, we stay very busy with our 3 married children and 4 beautiful grandchildren ranging in age from 2 to 8 with their many activities.
