Cowan's Fine Arts Program

Cowan’s fine art program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary for cognitive, creative, emotional and social growth. Our program works to build many types of literacy while developing intuition, imagination, and dexterity into unique forms of expression and communication. Students explore the influence of the arts in their power to create and reflect cultures. Students engage in a process that enables them to develop the self-esteem, self discipline, self-motivation, and cooperation necessary for success in life.

Cowan Elementary provides one full-time art teacher, one half-time art teacher, one full-time music teacher, and one half-time music teacher. All students attend Art, Music and PE on a regular schedule. Students rotate on a three day schedule referred to as the ABC calendar schedule. Our ABC calendar is conveniently located on our website for parents and students to know which days they will be attending Art, Music and PE. Cowan is a full inclusion school and all students, PK-5th grade attend special areas forty-five minutes each day.

Each year students engage in fine arts events within our community.
